I went out to the coop this morning to feed/water the chickens and chickies. When I filled the feed bowl for the Feb. chickies I noticed Pig Pen didnt get up to come eat, she just laid where she was... so I figured she wasnt going to make it, shes had something wrong with her butt since she was born at first I just thought it was pasty butt but I think it was something more serious. She wasnt growing as big as the other chickies from her hatch... she looked like a midget chick... She would come up to me and want me to love on her and she was soooo stinky! But I showed her some lovin anyways... shes lived a nice lil chickie life while I had her....
* March chickies are doing great, no pasty butts so far. I love watching them in my fish tank bator. Two customers are coming this weekend to pick out the chickies they want.
* I'll be starting April's batch sometime this week too
I am sorry you lost your cute lil chickie! She was precious.
ReplyDeleteSorry you lost 1. I had to euthanize a young one today. She went down with mareks, but she always had issues which messed her immune system up.
ReplyDeleteEveryone says "it is part of having chickens", but it doesn't make it easier on those of us who get attached to them.

Thanks Anne and Matt...
ReplyDeleteShe was such alittle sweet cutie. Yes Matt you are so right, is sad when something happens to any of them...
Aw, poor Pig Pen. She lived a good life!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear bout that girl ; (
ReplyDeleteThanks Katie and Trish... 1 of the March chickies died last night too, seen it this morning.
