Ducky...

Our Newest Farm Friend...

A friend brought us this cute lil duck today, he found it walking in his yard and didnt know where it came from, he lives in a neighborhood. He didnt want to just leave it so he thought of us, lol. I wish he had found 2 cause I dont want it to be lonely, I've got it in the house in my chickie brooder. I've got to do some reading on ducks since this is our 1st one... and advice would be helpful. We THINK is a Pekin Duck, what do you think?

July Broodies...

Each of these hens have a story...

This hen has been broody FOREVER and I've given her eggs but she broke them over time, this is her 3rd set of eggs, these should be pure BO, shes in the BO pen.

This BO hen is in my barnyard pen and this is her 2nd time going broody this year, she hatched out 1 bantam chick in May... Itty Bitty

Then theres Chipmunk... this is her 4th time going broody this year! This time she got smart and decided to make her nest in the coop instead of hiding it in our your or the neighbors yard. I really hope the 4th time is a charm. She has 1 of her own eggs and 2 eggs from Goldie, my other bantam hen.

So I just gave them all their eggs yesterday (7/27)... should be due around 8/16

Update On Garden...

So this looks like a pretty good harvest, doesnt it?!?! It is BUT we are not harvesting nearly as much as we did last year, that stinks!!! I am very grateful for what we are getting to harvest this year its just I was planning on doing ALOT of canning/freezing, our gardens are what we eat on during the winter. Between the stinking weeds taking the gardens over, not much rain and it being so hot this years garden season really sucks and it makes me mad/sad... all the money, time, hard work and sweat we put into it... dont know whats going happen with your crop from year to year, guess thats the price you pay being a farmer. Know what... we,ll do it all again next year, lol.

Beautiful Bluebirds...

Bluebirds Are So Beautiful. We have some in our yard and are very blessed to watch them raise their young every year. After dinner I went out and filled the birdbath with clean water then went back in and was standing at My Kitchen Window just in time to see...

Can you find our newest chickie...

Heres BO broody #6 and her 1 lil chickie that hatched out sometime last night... I gave her 12 eggs on June 16 and over time she broke all but 4 eggs.

So Cute...

* She has 3 eggs under her still but I really dont think they are good.

Can We Feed The Chickens Mom...

I've been lettin the barnyard flock free range again... so far so good. I've got around 55- 60 chickens in my barnyard flock, ranging from over a year old to 1 month old. They are lovin it and hopefully it will help me on my feed bill, If I can keep the teenagers away... lol
