Flicka... 3 weeks

Miss. Flicka is doin so great here on my lil farm.  I took this pics on Friday.

She is such a dirty, dirty girl...  The girl loves to roll in the mud and with all rain we have been gettin she has lots of mud to roll in

Flicka and the goats free ranging in the main yard

Shes can tell shes already gained weight. She gets all the fresh hay she wants, fresh water daily, carrot and apple treats sometimes alittle sweet feed as a treat and then on days I dont have to go anywhere or do anything I will walk, brush and spend hours with her in the main yard, letting her free range on the grass.

 After I brushed Miss. Ficka

Our niece came home with us on Christmas Day and she was excited to see Flicka

She brushed her alittle

SIL showing me how to work with Flicka...

After I buy me a blanket, saddle, bit, rein, and all the other good riding stuff.... I'll ride her.

*** Pretty soon Flicka and the goats will be able to free range in one of my neighbors pasture... they are gonna be so happy.

From One Horse Love To Another...

I just love when someone surprises me with "Happy Mail"... it is so very sweet of them to think of me and when I get "Happy Mail", it puts a big fat smile on my face.  I received this nice, pretty, soft, warm scarf today... its my very 1st horse thing. I wore it this evening when I went out to collect eggs (6).

I'll think of my sweet friend every time I wear my scarf :)

Barnyard Peacefulness...

Theres just some kind of special peacefulness that comes from hangin out in the barnyard, I truly love it.  I love sittin in this old broken down chair that got recycled in the barnyard watching the animals go about their day... I love the sounds the animals make... I love hearin Flicka and the goats munching on their hay, chickens peaking at the ground, ducks dabbling in any water they can find... no water container down in the barnyard is safe from a duck, lol.  I love that 1 of my 5 farm kitties will find me and come sit in my lap, then purr up a storm from all the loving and one on one attention they are getting. I'm even starting to love all the barnyard poo smells........... NOT, lol   No, really theres just something special down there, a simpleness that I love to enjoy, a magical place to go and just be still... let it soothe your soul.

A person that possesses true peace is not one without problems and turmoil,
but is rather a person who has peace in spite of it.

Flicka... 1 week

After morning barnyard chores I walked back out and saw this scene... I thought it was so BEAUTIFUL. Flicka has only been here 1 week... she has accepted the goats and they have accepted her.  Isnt that sweet.  The other day I walked the goats to my neighbors pasture, Flicka did not like that she could not go with them.

~ Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be greeted in the mornings with this beautiful face... shes already moved into my heart, I love her. This is were she greets me every morning and she makes her horse sound when she sees me... she knows I have a treat for her. I love this life and feel so Blessed ♥

Flicka: Day 4

When I went out to do morning barnyard chores I saw there was a nice big pile of poo in the goat barn that says Miss. Flicka was in there sometime during the night... honestly I didnt think she could fit through the door.  Flicka and the goats seem to be getting along just fine... this afternoon I saw Star out with Flicka stuffing their faces with fresh hay.

The goats didnt care about the big pile of horse poo in the middle of the barn, lol.  Dont worry I pitched it out into the yard.  They were just worried about stuffing their faces with breakfast!

Flicka enjoyin her breakfast... shes doin great here.  I'm really glad I changed my mind and didnt five up so fast... I know everything will work out with Gods help.

When I went food shopping this evening I pick up some treats for Miss. Flicka.  She loves carrots, havent given her apple slices yet, maybe tomorrow :)

The weather while I did evening barnyard chores... wet snow and alittle hail.  Its been raining here since Thursday.  The rain really dont bother me, its the MUD I hate. I love sitting on the couch, lookin out the window into the barnyard, while workin on a crochet project and sipping a mug of hot coffee or chocolate.

Day 2 with Flicka...

From Thursday evening til Saturday (day 2) morning I've been on an emotional roller coaster about keeping Flicka and beating myself up wondering if I did the right thing or jump in this horse thing way too fast... I've worried myself physically sick, I had to go to bed 6 pm on Thursday night because of it, tossed and turned all night long, had a nightmare... it was not a good night!  Then on Friday after Flicka only being here 1 day I gave up, I called my SIL crying and told her I couldnt do it, asked if she wanted her back or for me to try to sell her? Then I talked more to good friends, they all gave me different things to think about and I did... my biggest worries are a shelter for Flicka, I dont have but something will work out with that and I've been told even if she has a shelter she will choose not to go in it that much, then I dont have pasture for her, I've been told I dont have to have that either... buy she does need a big round bale of hay, which I can get that.  I've gotten so much great support and wonderful advice from real everyday friends and then my wonderful fb friends on my farm page... it really makes me happy that I can get on my page and pour my heart out over this and get so much support, I havent gotten 1 single negative comment on there and for that I'm thankful.

Yesterday was a good, Flicka only scared me a few times, lol.  I learned how to put her halter on her the right way with the help of my husband... all morning long I was tryin to put it on her upside down, lol.  Flicka and I got to know each other a bit more by walking around the yard, then my daughter came out and walked her... at evening chores I fed her last so I could spend time with her while she was munching on hay... I rubbed and brushed her and told her how pretty she is :)

 Our first pic together :)

After awhile my daughter came out and walked Flicka some...

This right here is just one reason I want to keep trying...
 Melts my heart...

After being walked around the yard for awhile she was one thirsty girl

Flicka and the goats makin friends over some hay...

It made me really happy when I looked out my bedroom window and saw them getting to know each other, I think the goats calmed Flicka down, she is use to being with other horses.  I've read and been told goats and horses make good companions.

Flicka is here.......

SIL and BIL brought her down yesterday...
we walked her around the yard, she met the goats through the fence,
we got her settled in a few hours later they left then reality hit me... hard.  I know nothing about horses... what am I thinkin?!?!  Thank goodness I have great friends I can cry and whine too, get great advice and support from... some of them will never know how much they helped me last night and today.

About 7:30am I started to feel better after reading all the great comments on my fb farm page and goin out spending time with Flicka... fed her, gave her fresh water, she let me brush her the whole time she was eating... shes a sweet girl with kind eyes... I know now I just need to breathe and give us both time to get use to each other... I know shes scared coming to a new place, people and other animals.

Keep yall updated
keep me in your prayers

Meet Flicka

Shes Coming To Our Little Farm Tomorrow....

I'm so very excited and nervous...
I know I'm just gonna fall in love with her and be the best of friends.

She is 6 years old, she is broke so after we get to know each other and I earn her trust I hope to ride her.  I've never owned a horse... as a matter of fact I've really never been around them but I have always wanted one.  I never really thought I would own one, thought it would always be just a dream and I was ok with that, I decided I would just make friends with other people that had horses and enjoy theirs, lol.  Anyways... last Wednesday my sister in law post on fb that she needed to sell both her horses... post I did on that H-E-R-E, well it crossed my mind about getting her and I did ask my honey but we didnt have the money so I accepted that, shared her pic and tried to find her a good home.  Then the idea of my daughter buyin her and keep her here popped in my head... but my daughter said the right thing when I asked her if she wanted to... she being the responsible young lady that she is said " I have to buy a car first mom"... ok, ok I know she needs a car first, it was just a thought, lol.  Now heres the good part...... on Friday I prayed and talked to God, I asked him if it was meant for me to have a horse then I knew he would work it out (like he did for my goats) and if its not meant to be then that was ok, I wants gonna worry about it, I handed it all over to him then forgot about it.  On Sunday night my BIL called to say he had thought of a deal we could make on Flicka... he told me the deal and I love it.  Talked to my honey and we both agreed on it...... called them back and sealed the deal. They are happy we are buyin her so she gets to say in the family and they can visit her whenever they have the time... they have had her for 3 years and love her very much.  They also know she will have a good life on Our Little Farm.

I cant wait to spend time with her and share it all through pics with all of you!

Cocoa, Boots and The Blue Bucket...

No matter where they are in my yard
When I shake "The Blue Bucket" of goat candy...

They come running!

 " We Want Candy!"

Sometimes I tease them, especially Boots...
being a wether he doesnt need a lot of goat candy

Its takin me almost 7 months to make friends with my 2 kids...
they are really starting to trust me and if I have candy they really love me.

***************************************************************************

They also love their loose minerals BUT...
they love it more when they get to eat it out of  "The Blue Bucket".

Here they are munching away on minerals out of  "The Blue Bucket"

"This stuff is so good... "

I put the loose mineral in their lil container, then they acted like they didnt like it, lol
Werent they just munching away on it?!?!

 "Yuck!"

Cocoas wondering where "The Blue Bucket" is?

I pulled it back out and look at these silly lil goats, cant get enough, lol

I have to hide "The Blue Bucket" under my shirt...
this is how I walk around my yard, bucket belly, lol

Boots busted in the feed shelter ( he followed me in there)
and found the bag of loose minerals... yum yum

They are learnin what the stand is for and
they know they get goat candy there when I trim their hooves

" Just hand over the candy and no body will get hurt!" lol

The Egg Strike Is Over...

It was such a wonderful surprise to go into the coop this morning and find that one of the girls had laid me an egg... its only been 1 month and 4 days since I've seen ANY eggs in the coop!  I was one happy farm chic today and almost did the happy dance right there in the chicken run ;)

Ended The Day With 3 Beautiful Farm Fresh Eggs
Feelin very blessed

* Some of you read my other blog All Because 2 People Fell In Love and know that I froze egg this past spring with I was over flowing with them.  I'm so thankful I did that since the girls decided to go on strike... I did not have to buy nasty, pale, tasteless store eggs.
