Changes with My Little Goat Herd

My little goat herd changed again last Sunday (10-26-14)... long story short I sold Tulip & Star back to my friend Sarah over at Life At Goodwife Farm, visit her blog I know she will sharing the news soon. Tulip and Star have been with me about 3 years, I have learned so much from having them start my herd... my Cocoa & Chloe are Tulips daughters, they are my main girls now.  Cocoa was born May 2012 and Chloe Dec. 2013. I still have my two Nubian bucks Ringo & Silo.  The day Tulip and Star left they both were in heat they went on a date with Silo, hopefully they are bred and will be due to kid around March 2014... I will be getting two doelings from them. I plan on breeding Cocoa to Silo the next time I catch her in heat.

My whole for now herd... plus one

We've had some goat breakouts in some of my other areas so this morning I just put the whole herd together... they're loving it and everyone is being good. Honey & I will have to do some repairs in the other areas this weekend... I hope.  Lets see theres The Queen Tulip with her 3 kids Miss. Pearl, Comet & Clover (Miss. Pearl and Comet will be leaving to go to their new homes around May 21), then theres my bottle baby Spirit, then Tulips doeling from last May Cocoa, I have her sister Dolly here too (she'll be goin back to her farm soon), then theres Stars May 2012 wether Boots & Feb. 2013 wether Willie (they will be leaving to go to their new home tomorrow), then theres my new doeling Itty Bitty and then theres my two bucks Ringo & Peanut... I decided this morning I'm giving Peanut to my friend Rachel on the term that I still get to use him for buck service if I want.  So by the middle/end of May my herd will be: Ringo, Tulip, Cocoa, Itty Bitty, Clover & Spirit. Thats gonna be a huge change and a nice, peaceful slow down til next kidding season.

Star... about 2-3 weeks left

Due February 11th or February 16

This picture is from Jan. 9, shes bigger now but I just love this picture

Goin by Star's 1st date with Ringo yesterday maked 2 more weeks before she kids. When I went out to collect eggs yesterday night I sat in the goat barn for a few minutes watchin them rest/sleep. Star and her son Boots were cuddled up together, Star's belly looked so big and I saw the babies moving around in it... I didnt try to feel them cause she doesnt like that. She was moaning alittle I'm sure shes already uncomfortable being so big. I miss having babies on my farm, cant wait to see the lil cuties ♥

Flicka... 1 week

After morning barnyard chores I walked back out and saw this scene... I thought it was so BEAUTIFUL. Flicka has only been here 1 week... she has accepted the goats and they have accepted her.  Isnt that sweet.  The other day I walked the goats to my neighbors pasture, Flicka did not like that she could not go with them.

~ Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be greeted in the mornings with this beautiful face... shes already moved into my heart, I love her. This is were she greets me every morning and she makes her horse sound when she sees me... she knows I have a treat for her. I love this life and feel so Blessed ♥

Flicka: Day 4

When I went out to do morning barnyard chores I saw there was a nice big pile of poo in the goat barn that says Miss. Flicka was in there sometime during the night... honestly I didnt think she could fit through the door.  Flicka and the goats seem to be getting along just fine... this afternoon I saw Star out with Flicka stuffing their faces with fresh hay.

The goats didnt care about the big pile of horse poo in the middle of the barn, lol.  Dont worry I pitched it out into the yard.  They were just worried about stuffing their faces with breakfast!

Flicka enjoyin her breakfast... shes doin great here.  I'm really glad I changed my mind and didnt five up so fast... I know everything will work out with Gods help.

When I went food shopping this evening I pick up some treats for Miss. Flicka.  She loves carrots, havent given her apple slices yet, maybe tomorrow :)

The weather while I did evening barnyard chores... wet snow and alittle hail.  Its been raining here since Thursday.  The rain really dont bother me, its the MUD I hate. I love sitting on the couch, lookin out the window into the barnyard, while workin on a crochet project and sipping a mug of hot coffee or chocolate.

* 2013 kids will be Kinder/Nubain

I'm buying a 2013 doeling thats due in January from  my friend Julie over at Our TN Adventure   she also started a new website Russell's Ridge Nubains also when I'm ready to bred Cocoa I really want to bred her to Welker who lives at Russell's Ridge Nubian Farm, take a peek at him, hes beautiful and they would make beautiful babies.

Then my other friend Stephanie over at Buttered Bread Homestead will by buy 2013 kids from me to get her lil goat herd started... I'm so excited over all of this!

I weighted Tulip and Star this morning... Star (Boots mom) is 4 years old and weighs between 135-140 (2 months bred), Tulip (Star and Cocoas mom) is a few years older than star, dont know exactly and she weighs 115 - 120 (1 month bred), Cocoa (doeling) is 78-81 and Boots (wether) is 84-87 if I did it right...  I went by this weight chart I still need to weigh The Stinky Boys.
