Changes with My Little Goat Herd

My little goat herd changed again last Sunday (10-26-14)... long story short I sold Tulip & Star back to my friend Sarah over at Life At Goodwife Farm, visit her blog I know she will sharing the news soon. Tulip and Star have been with me about 3 years, I have learned so much from having them start my herd... my Cocoa & Chloe are Tulips daughters, they are my main girls now.  Cocoa was born May 2012 and Chloe Dec. 2013. I still have my two Nubian bucks Ringo & Silo.  The day Tulip and Star left they both were in heat they went on a date with Silo, hopefully they are bred and will be due to kid around March 2014... I will be getting two doelings from them. I plan on breeding Cocoa to Silo the next time I catch her in heat.

Buck Stare Down

As I was sitting down in the barnyard yesterday evening waiting for the duck pool to fill back up... The Stinky Boys (Ringo and Silo) came over and put on a show for me... They were so silly, pushing, shoving, jumping up, ears flying, ramming heads... having themselves a good ol time.  Silo was tryin to mate Ringo.  Then they would come over and want me to love on them.  I love my bucks, they really are sweet boys.
Ringo is 2 years old and Silo is 1 years old

Ringo & Silo in the lil goat pasture

I started locking up "The Goat Girls & Spirit" in their pen/house with water and hay of course in the evenings , then I let Ringo & Silo out of the buck pen/house to munch in the lil pasture for the rest of the evening and in the morning til I get out there and start on chores...  I'll just walked them back to the buck pen/house to spend their day with alittle grain, hay & water. Then let "The goat girls & Spirit back out into the lil pasture for the day. Think this is gonna work out just nicely. Everyone is Happy Happy.

Ringo & Silo are lookin so great! Silo will be as big as Ringo before I know it!  Silo was born in March, hes a big boy... gonna make some beautiful big, strong babies next year.

Silo is Ringos shadow

Silo came to live here 3 days ago, he still cries but not as much, each day is better. He has really takin up with Ringo, that makes me so happy.  He really is Ringo's lil shadow.  Its so cute to watch them munching in their area, I hung out and took pics of them today.  Ringo will pull down tree limbs to eat the leaves and Silo nibbles too.

Something must have been pretty yummy they didnt even notice I left.

My new buckling Silo

I'm bringing this beautiful boy home Saturday!
Happy Mothers Day To Me, From Me

Silo is a is a purebred, registered Nubian buckling.  I really didint intend to buy a buckling this year but just look at him, hes beautiful... I was on fb tryin to catch up with some pages I follow, got on Dot's and Doe's Dairy page and seen he was back up for sale... I couldnt believe my eyes, had to look twice, it was gettin late and I was tired, plus sick.  But nope it was true... the lady who was gonna buy him backed out, so his owner posted this along with his picture, "Silo will be for sale May 13th unless the lady who previously wanted him decides otherwise. He is a purebred, registered buckling and I am waiting on his paperwork to come in. He is 175.00 PM me if you're interested. Thanks!" I thought " Why Not?"  I figured it was a long shot that I'd actually get picked to buy him and then there was the fact we live in different states, but wouldnt know unless I tried, so I sent her a message.  Hes mine... all the details are getting worked out.  My friend Rachel and I are takin a girls road trip this Saturday to meet and pick up Silo. I'm so excited about next years kidding season... I better see spots! Silo and Itty Bitty are gonna make me some BEAUTIFUL babies.

My whole for now herd... plus one

We've had some goat breakouts in some of my other areas so this morning I just put the whole herd together... they're loving it and everyone is being good. Honey & I will have to do some repairs in the other areas this weekend... I hope.  Lets see theres The Queen Tulip with her 3 kids Miss. Pearl, Comet & Clover (Miss. Pearl and Comet will be leaving to go to their new homes around May 21), then theres my bottle baby Spirit, then Tulips doeling from last May Cocoa, I have her sister Dolly here too (she'll be goin back to her farm soon), then theres Stars May 2012 wether Boots & Feb. 2013 wether Willie (they will be leaving to go to their new home tomorrow), then theres my new doeling Itty Bitty and then theres my two bucks Ringo & Peanut... I decided this morning I'm giving Peanut to my friend Rachel on the term that I still get to use him for buck service if I want.  So by the middle/end of May my herd will be: Ringo, Tulip, Cocoa, Itty Bitty, Clover & Spirit. Thats gonna be a huge change and a nice, peaceful slow down til next kidding season.
