In Memory Of Pig Pen...

I went out to the coop this morning to feed/water the chickens and chickies. When I filled the feed bowl for the Feb. chickies I noticed Pig Pen didnt get up to come eat, she just laid where she was... so I figured she wasnt going to make it, shes had something wrong with her butt since she was born at first I just thought it was pasty butt but I think it was something more serious. She wasnt growing as big as the other chickies from her hatch... she looked like a midget chick... She would come up to me and want me to love on her and she was soooo stinky! But I showed her some lovin anyways... shes lived a nice lil chickie life while I had her....

* The other 3 chickies from Feb. are doing great and I'm THINKING they are pullets... time will tell. They turned 1 month old over the weekend, I'll try to post pic. sometime this week.

* March chickies are doing great, no pasty butts so far. I love watching them in my fish tank bator. Two customers are coming this weekend to pick out the chickies they want.

* I'll be starting April's batch sometime this week too

March Chickies Are Hatching...

This is the 1st one to hatch. Its the only bantam that made it to hatch day... I was so happy to see its lil pip this morning and to watch it hatch out. I'm keeping this one, I told my husband its gonna be my house chickie... hes like Yeah Right! lol One other egg has hatched so the lil bantam has a friend to keep it company while they wait for the other 34 eggs to hatch, lol

From what I can see there are 7 pips right now...
I'll do another blog when they all hatch and are nice and fluffy.

And Then There Were Only 4...

I sold 15 of my 19 chickies from my Feb. hatch yesterday. It was kind of sad to see them go, I hope they live a good chickie life and give their owners lots of yummy eggs...

I kept 4 for myself since they are from my 1st bator hatch, I want to watch them grow up and see how they turn out. Once again I'm hoping they are all girls, we will see...

(* March Hatch went on lockdown last night... 36 eggs, hope they all hatch!)

Their wanting me to take em outside...

My 4 Beautiful Chickies... almost 4 weeks old

Catching alittle nap in the sunshine

They were lovin their dirt bathing today

Listen up you two... I'M THE BOSS around this Chicken Shack! Got it!
Follow that rule and no one gets flogged.

* Heres some exciting news... we are expanding the chicken area this summer and adding more coop or coops! I'm sure we will add alittle more each year til we get it the way we want it.

Hummingbirds...

Are On Their Way...

So get your feeders ready! I go here to track the hummers. They should be in my area April 1-15, I put my feeders out early cause you never know... I love watching the hummingbirds and have 4 hummer stations in my yard, so where every I am I can see them, lol. They are just so cute. Now we only get the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird in our area. Heres acouple pictures I've taken through the years... I have alot more but these are SOME of my favorites.

I mix up 1 part sugar to 4 parts water, fill my feeders then put the rest in the fridge. I've done ALOT of research through the years on feeding hummers... I use to boil the sugar water, but you dont have to and you should not add anything else too it! Also make sure you clean your feeders every couple of days or weekly. Feeding hummers is alot of work but so worth the enjoyment of seeing them up close and personal... I would miss them so much if they didnt visit my yard! Summer just wouldnt be the same...

When Its Sunny Out The Chickies Will Play...

Its really nice here today, its 69 degrees right now! I went to the coop this morning and collected the Feb. chickies 2 at a time and put them in a area outside so they could enjoy the sunshine. They are growing so fast (2 1/2 weeks) and are so cute, I just love watching them.

The plan was to get alot of house cleaning done today. Yeah right. Who can stay in and clean when they have these cute lil fuzzy butts to play with? Not Me...
