I dont know what happen but I found 1 silkie chick from the 2 that hatched (Silkie Chickies Hatched) dead in the tractor this mornin... makes me very sad. So I decided to take this one away from the momma hen & bring it inside with me, I dont want anything to happen to it.

This is where its sleepin as I type.* I have a friend who has silkie eggs in her bator for me, lockdown is tomorrow, hatch day is Saturday. I'm really hopin some hatch so this one with have brooder-mates soon.
** I thought about put this one in with the older ones I have in my brooder, they are 2 weeks old so I dont know if they would be mean it this one, its a week old. I'll sat there & watch them for awhile to make sure everything was goin good. But then I saw the momma hen walkin around outside cluckin for her chick and that made me sad too. So I ended up puttin the chick back with momma in a cage inside the shed til we have some nice weather.
oh, i hope so too! don't want him or her to be all alone!

Good decision. Good luck little chickie!
ReplyDeleteI had to take all of Adelka's chicks from her. After being an excellent momma through hatching and the first week, I found she was tossing them around by their little wings which were bleeding. There's no telling what was going on with her, but I'm glad I removed her from the situation and all the chicks are now lovely teenagers! Just be watchful of your cute baby!
