My Silkies...

I got this pair of Silkies in June 2011.  Heres their lil story: A new pair of silkies.  I've tried to hatch out chicks from them through the years but to me Silkie eggs are hard to hatch, I've never had much luck... I have hatch out a few mutt Silkies this past year, sold the last one that hatched it was a pretty young chick. The lil hen went broody in July so on the 29th I gave her 5 eggs (eggs from her & my Silver Polish), on Aug. 18 two of the five eggs hatched (other 3 egg didnt hatch)... they are not pure, I do plan on separating my Silkie Rooster & Hen and hatching out pure chicks one of these days... until then I'll hatch out cute mutts.

I think its mad at momma, lol

Update On Silkie Chick

Took these yesterday, Silkie chick is 1.5 weeks old

Felt sorry for em being in the lil tractor so I let momma & chick out to free range, checked on em in the evening & momma had her chick in the Silkie coop ready for bed.

Momma & Silkie Chickie...

Momma needed her baby back... Idont think she killed the other or anything, I think it just died, sometimes that happens. So I put the chick back with its momma.

I lost one of my silkie chicks today...

I dont know what happen but I found 1 silkie chick from the 2 that hatched (Silkie Chickies Hatched) dead in the tractor this mornin... makes me very sad. So I decided to take this one away from the momma hen & bring it inside with me, I dont want anything to happen to it.

This is where its sleepin as I type.

* I have a friend who has silkie eggs in her bator for me, lockdown is tomorrow, hatch day is Saturday. I'm really hopin some hatch so this one with have brooder-mates soon.

** I thought about put this one in with the older ones I have in my brooder, they are 2 weeks old so I dont know if they would be mean it this one, its a week old. I'll sat there & watch them for awhile to make sure everything was goin good. But then I saw the momma hen walkin around outside cluckin for her chick and that made me sad too. So I ended up puttin the chick back with momma in a cage inside the shed til we have some nice weather.
