Bred Or Not Bred...

That is the question... You see there is a chance Tulip & Star are bred, they hung out with The Goodwifes buck for a few weeks before she sold him & if they are bred they should be due the end of this month. So I'm tryin to figure out if one, both or any are & get prepared.

Please click here & look at the other pics. then let me know what you think,

  1. Haha, I would get prepared.... I didn't look at the other pictures but here's what I would suggest.
    1. they will start to udder up about 3-1 week before birthing, although some don't.
    2. if you see them udder up, next check their tail ligamnets every day for the next week till birthing. run your hand down backbone from hips to tailhead and feel for that bone to gradually raise like disconnecting almost.
    3. Finally any discharge or lack of appetite is sign of impending birthign, but again keep watch.

I always "hand-bred" my does so I would know when they were due, but those are thigs you can watch for. Also, if you want you can palpate abdomin to see if you can feel any little feet or kicking. I was never good at that though. Oh, one more thing... Impending birth will show in hollowness in front of hip bones. Looks like the one on the right may be due first or have a greater number of kids. Just sayin'

If you get more reliable advise just throw this out, LOL!

  2. I'm way too new with goats to know. I like what Sunny said that you may be able to fell the kids kick. That would be great. Good luck.
