Flicka & The Stinky Boys...

The naked earth is warm with Spring,
And with green grass and bursting trees
Leans to the sun's kiss glorying,
And quivers in the sunny breeze.
~Julian Grenfell

~ Thought I'd give an update on how Miss. Flicka is doin on my lil farm... as you can see from the pictures shes doin great, we are bonding more & more everyday and I love it!  I'm so glad I never sold her when I would have my freak out days thinkin I couldnt do this.  I can do this, plus I have so much support from family/friends.  Flicka is not eating from my neighbors pasture anymore... shes in my barnyard and I've had to do some rearranging with goats, right now my bucks Ringo and Peanut are down in the barnyard with Flicka... they all get along just fine.  Flicka spends her days munching on hay, drinkin fresh water, walkin the barnyard finding new grass to nibble on, running/playin from one side of the barnyard to the other, flirting with the neighbors donkey over the fence and pooping A LOT!  Most days I bring her out of the barnyard and into the main yard,  tie her on the barnyard gate so I can love on her by brushing her, then I walk her around the yard to munch on grass, I started workin on walkin her around the yard with me leading and being the boss mare... cant just let her walk and munch all the time.  I got on her yesterday evening without a bridle, bit, saddle and all that good stuff to see if I could ( I dont have all that good stuff yet, workin on it)... she did fine, I was only on her about 5 minutes, I'll feel better with a bit in her mouth. Shes a sweet girl and I cant wait to see how our relationship is in a few more months (I've only had her since December 2012).

I'm glad you two are getting along so well. I never liked sitting bareback, I always thought it hurt! LOL!!

  2. Thanks for the update. Glad you two are doing well. You look good together. Put that poop to use in the compost pile. Your garden will LOVE it.
