2nd Duck Egg...

I found another duck egg...

Soooo I'm gonna do a test on my 1st duck egg I got yesteday. I'm puttin it under one of my broody bantam hens... I know, I know it might not even be fertile but I'm still gonna give it a try. I'm hard headed, very stubborn and I like to do things my way and I hate when people think I'm wrong when I know I'm right. I look thinks up and study them before I speak about them, I do my homework... So I really do believe these are duck eggs. They should get bigger & whitish as my duck hens lay more eggs. This is their 1st year layin & their 1st eggs.

Now we wait 35ish long days...

2nd egg could be Lou Lou's?

Found this coffee colored smooth, waxy egg in the same nest box as the 1st one.

Decided to open the 2nd one, gonna make cookies with it

It was alot harder to open than a chicken egg & harder to tear apart after I cracked it.

The yolk is bigger than my chicken yolks

Hummm... maybe I'll get another one tomorrow :)

Meet Chipmunk... lil broody bantam

I bought Chipmunk out of the assorted bantam box at TCS last year... she was a cute lil chickie and shes grown to be a beautiful and sweet (when you can catch her) lil hen who has been hiddin her eggs in a secret nest in the neighbors pasture! I noticed she was missing last night when I locked the flock up and to be honest I dont know how many nights she hasnt come home to roost, cause sometimes my Ds11 locks the flock up. When I realized she was missing last night I was very sad cause I thought something happened to her. So this morning when I went to feed/water the flock I seen her come walkin up, I sat out there and watched her til she was done eattin and watch her walk to the thicket in the our neighbors pasture and she never came back out. Thats when I knew she's broody with a hidden nest! The neighbors got her and her eggs for me (8 of them), and I made her a nice dark spot in the coop, shes back on her nest. I'm going to candle some tonight to see whats going on...........
