Lock Down...

Today is day 18.
I candled again last night, didnt take pictures this time. Everything looks to be going good. 32 eggs have made it to lock down! I filled all the water trays my instruction book said to fill, took the eggs out of the egg turner and laid them down and now its time to wait and see what happens. I couldnt see good in the 6 dark eggs on the far side, but there is no weeping and no yucky smell coming from them so I left them in. I just think the shells to dark for me to get a good look. They do have air pockets, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for good results. The next 3 days are going to be hard, I'm really excited... I'm so excited I've dreamed about hatching eggs for the past 2 nights, how crazy is that, lol! My family thinks I'm weird... but just wait til they see those cute lil fuzzy butts hatching!

Day 7... Time to candle

Ok I wasnt going to candle yet...
The plan was to wait til day 10 but I thought oh what the heck lets take a peek!

These are the only pics. I had Brian take. I be glad when we get a better camera. These arent very good pics., in person you can see veins and a itty bitty chickies inside! Now I just think thats one of the coolest things ever!

Now out of all 36 eggs...
3 I'm not sure about I cant get a good look at this time and 5 really look like duds to me. (the 4 bantams and 4 easter egger eggs are all looking good) I'm going to candle again on day 10 and day 17/18.

12 Beautiful eggs I collected this afternoon...

Free Eggs...

(these eggs are from Sunday and Monday)

Well all of us Chicken People know they are NOT FREE...

1st - You have to spend whatever amount of money you want to build the coop and the run

2nd - You have to buy the chicks (or if you luck like me your uncle/aunt will get you started)

3rd - You have to have a broader, heat lamp and chickie food for months

4th - You have to actually buy chicken feed every week...
(* I spend around $22.00 a week for about 40ish chickens)

5th - You have to buy bedding for your coop and nest boxes every couple of months...

Then before you know it you'll have to buy more chicks or hatch some of your own to feed your Chickie addiction, lol and then you'll need to add on to your Chicken coop and run

Now dont get me wrong I ♥ my chickens and their eggs
I just dont understand why some people say... Oh you get free eggs when I say I have chickens cause they are far from free but they sure do taste good! I pray I never have to go back to eating store bought eggs... YUCK!

Momma thought it was time...

So I went to the Chicken Shack to make sure the chickens had food/water, collect eggs when I found Momma with her Nov. chickies out in the chicken run... guess she thought it was time to bring them out of the shack. I stayed out there and watched them for a little while, everything seems to be going find and the other chickens arent paying that much attention to them. They did get picked on alittle but Momma protected them.

The guineas do try to pick on them... mean ol guineas!

I Like this one

Big Daddy and Chicken Noodle

Two of our Sept. Chickies...

I've only collected 8 eggs so far today...
but when I left the shack some of the girls were sitting in the nest boxes... hopefully laying us an egg
