Workin Horses...

I have a new friend and hes pretty dang great working with horses and people too.  He worked with my friend Rachels mare (Jessie) yesterday evening to see if Rachel and Jessie would make a good pair... short story... They do not. So Rachel is selling Jessie.  It was pretty dang amazing to me to watch Nelson work with Jessie in the round pen, from what everyone could see shes not been worked like that.  After Jessie was worked it was Miss. Flickas turn... she did real good. Then it was my turned. I think I did pretty good too.  He had me get on her in the round pen while he worked her, then after a few minutes he told me I could not hold on to the reins or saddle. I was thinkin WHAT? ARE YOU CRAZY Now I must admit I was freakin scared, I just knew I was gonna go flyin off Flicka... I didnt... but a few times it sure did feel like I was goin to. I had to cheat some and grab my saddle... not holdin on was huge step for me. I loved yesterday. I got this.  I really wish I had a round pen at my place... maybe one day.

He said Flicka is a great Mare

In the saddle with Flicka

~ Looky what I did this evening... all by myself and yes I was alittle scared but did it anyways. My honey was gonna walk Flicka around the yard while I was on her, but he got a phone call right when we were gonna do this... so while he was talkin I sucked it up and got on my girl, we did pretty good but we both need lots of work... I wasnt on her long, I had her go around the yard a few times.

I gotta admit I'd rather have a horse friend here with me to help me, show me things I'm doin wrong, show me things to do right.  My friend Sarah is gonna try to come next Monday and my friend Nelson is gonna try to help me this Saturday.

ps I havent been keeping up with my bloggin... sorry.  Flicka is back home, her visit to my friends house was cut short... Mare problems, she was there less than a week.  I've been spending lots of time with Flicka, walking her, talking to her, loving on her, brushing her, putting her blanket, saddle, bridle/bit on her.

Ooops, Time Will Tell...

My morning started off great.  Got up at 5:30, fixed coffee, lurked on facebook while waiting for my friend Stephanie to get here so we could walk... had a very nice walk.  Went out to do morning barnyard chores and guess who I found in my girls goat house/pen.  Peanut, the buck I sold to my back neighbors a few months ago... my buck Ringo and buckling Silo are in their buck pen where they will be spending most of their time since they are in rut. I got Peanut out as fast as I could and just stuck him in with Ringo and Silo til the neighbors can come get him.  I only have Tulip and Cocoa to breed this year. The plan I had in mind was to breed them to Silo... I do believe my plans got changed this morning... pretty sure Peanut bred them both, they both have been in and out of heat lately... I knew yesterday Tulip was in heat.  Peanut jumped the pasture fence twice last night while I was out there... I had already locked my girls in their pen... I thought they were safe... I thought wrong. I really dont know how to feel about this, if its done, its done... they will make beautiful kids I'm sure. But that wanst MY plan, lol

The girl wont lift her tail for me to get a picture,
but I took a quick peek she looks bred too

Cocoa turned a year this past May

So if they settle then I'm look at Dec. babies...
I didnt not want Dec. babies but nothing I can do about it now but deal with it the best I can.

Rooster & Hen enjoyin the show...
Ringo and Peanut playin around

Poor Silo wants nothing to do with Ringo and Peanut...
I'm kinda prayin Cocoa is not bred so I can breed her to Silo later this year!

Flicka Visit/Ride #1

It was really nice to see Miss. Flicka today and hang out with my friend Pam. We saddled up our Mares and rode alittle down the road, I also rode Flicka alittle in their hay field. I think Miss. Flicka was having herself a good time, but shes got to learn to stand still when I'm tryin to get in the saddle, lol. We didnt want to ride too long, it was super HOT out today... we'll ride another day. Just doin this lil bit is teachin me things I need to learn ♥
