"First of the Month" Tulip

Subject: My Kinder Dairy Doe, Tulip

Tulip about 2 months pregnant now... to me shes gotten alittle bigger. I've noticed shes sitting around resting more. Let me ask this... What side do the babies grow on?

* Tulip was bred on Dec. 11, 2010. She is due to kid May 4 (146th day) - May 8 (150 day). The beginning of each month I'll take pics of her, so you can watch her grow, kid & mother her kids... LinkThis is gonna be exciting. This is all new to me so I'm learning as I go. If you have any advice you think I need to know, please feel free to share :) Heres a pic. of her at 1 month

** I have another Doe pregnant... Star, (she is Tulips daughter). Come back tomorrow to read about her.

  1. Good post! I need to take a few more pictures before doing my "First of the Month!"
Okay, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I read where the babies are carried on the goat's right side and her left side is the rumen? Tulip definitely is bulging on the right!

  2. The rumen is definitely on the left. I've never figured out if they carry the kids more on one side or the other or if they are in the middle and get pushed over when the rumen is full. She's certainly a pretty girl.

  3. Candy was correct. The right side is the baby side. You'll see it grow as she progresses toward her kidding date. A few weeks before birth you should be able to see the babies move too.

I've had 62 babies born this kidding season and 28 does left to kid. It's been a great season so far. I wish you the best with your does. :D

  4. I didn't check out last months photos -- but now I'm going to be curious about your pregnant goat.
Hope you post the birth, too!
