My so far 2015 kids out playin with the herd

The goat girls and kids are all together now enjoying much more space on one side of the barnyard. The kids love jumping and playing on the big rocks and I love watching them. Chloe kidded on March 19th with a Doeling "Dottie" and a Buckling "Camo", who had been wethered, they are both sold.  Cocoa kidded on April 7th with a Doeling and a Buckling. I'm really thinking about keeping her Doeling, Cocoa has a wonderful udder and I'm hoping her Doeling will too.

Ruby Girl is my last Doe to kid...
Shes due early May

Cocoa's 2015 Kidding

Today was day 147 for Cocoa... and she blessed me with two healthy, beautiful kids, a buckling and a doeling.  I knew she could go any day so after work I moved her to my lil barn, I watched for a bit, she was acting alittle different but nothing to say.. HEY TODAY IS THE DAY.  I went in the house to do cook some supper and wash dishes, I was only inside for about 45 minutes, went out to check on her and do evening chores as I was walking to get feed for the horses... I heard the sweet cries of newborn goats and knew I had missed it! The buckling was almost completely dry, if I had come out a few minutes earlier I might have seen the birth of the doeling, she was still covered in goo.  I'm just so thankful everything went great... Cocoa took right to motherhood, shes wonderful with her babies.

Chloes 2015 Kidding

When I went out to do morning chores I found 2 sweet surprises... Chloe kidded, it hadnt been long, the 2nd baby was still pretty wet and laying there and the placenta was hanging out of Chloe. Brian and I moved them from the goat house to my little barn with a heat lamp. I wanted Chloe to get to know her babies and figure things out as a new mom.  Chloe was 1 years old December 2014, I wasnt gonna breed her yet but my bucks had other plans... I believe by looking at these kids that my buck Silo is theyre Sire.  For those of you that follow me you know all these months have been a guessing game with Choles breeding and I was just guessing that she was due around March 28th. I stayed home today to make sure everything was goin good with Chloe and her kids.  I will be selling these kids, actually the doeling is already sold.

The buckling (black with tan, dark brown, white moonspots) weighs 4.3 lbs. and the doeling (black with white moonspots and tanish under belly) weighs 3.6 lbs. Smallest kids born in my herd so far.

Little People In The Barnyard

My husband had friends down over the weekend, this is their daughter and her friend out playing with the goat girls. It makes me smile to see little people enjoying my animals. The one with the polka-dot coat told me this is her first time touching a goat. I love it

The Goat Girls Get Their Yard Back

I've had my goat girls just living in their pens for a few months and letting the horses have the whole barnyard... until yesterday. The horses are on one side of the barnyard and the goat girls on the other.  I've got 5 girls here now and they need room to run, 4 of them are bred, kidding season should start middle/end of February and go until May.  Sweet little Lily was running all over the place yesterday, it was so cute to watch her.

Everyone gets alittle grain this morning

Happy Saturday. Its a beautiful, cold winter day here in Kentucky. I spent the morning out with my barnyard animals... my 9 month old filly, Fiona gets grain twice a day and this morning I made everyone happy by giving them all alittle as a treat, along with their hay and fresh water

Flicka has a few friends helping her with her gain too

Cocoa is due in April and I think Chloe is due in March

Okay this doeling (Nubian) belongs to a friend of mine, the poor girl had her ears chewed off by a dog this past summer, its awful I know but so glad she made it... she just looks funny now.

My friend brought her down yesterday for me to borrow, so I can break her to the milk stand and milk her if shes bred... my bucks will let me know.  If shes bred then this will be her first freshening.
