The Goat Girls Get Their Yard Back

I've had my goat girls just living in their pens for a few months and letting the horses have the whole barnyard... until yesterday. The horses are on one side of the barnyard and the goat girls on the other.  I've got 5 girls here now and they need room to run, 4 of them are bred, kidding season should start middle/end of February and go until May.  Sweet little Lily was running all over the place yesterday, it was so cute to watch her.

~ Come with me on morning barnyard chores...

While I get my coffee I warm up Spirits goat milk bottle, feed him, give him a snuggle, then get my human boys up for school, jump on fb real quick, then around 7am out doin barnyard chores.  Yesterday evening I started locking Star up from her 2 18 13 kids (Ruby & Willie) so I can milk her, I will be using her milk right now to feed Spirit... Tulip needs all her milk to raise the other 3 babies.  Everyone did great last night.  After I milked Star and put her back in the pen with her kids, Cocoa & Mable (my friend Stephanie's goat, thats another story I'll share another day), then I run around feeding goats, horse, chickens, ducks, guineas, farm cats... cussing up a storm the whole time right now while its winter... dont let my sweet face fool ya... theres some pretty colorful words that fly out of my mouth sometimes and usually its only at barnyard chore time, lol.  I do a lot out there for 1 person... I look at it this way, its my 45 minute workout!

I milked about 2 1/2 cups from Star this morning...
I'm hoping to get a quart from her.  She gets clean fresh water, free choice good hay & Sweet feed, about 1 1/2 - 2 lbs a day.  This morning I put 2 lbs in her feed bucket and she left alittle.
Willie & Ruby so happy to see momma Star this morning

A "Me Time" Kinda Monday...

First I want to say I did not even get on my computer til 2:30pm today... thats a big deal for me, lol.  Normally thats the 3rd thing I do after I jump out of bed... but not today, after I dropped my daughter off at work (8am) I decided to stay off my computer and just enjoy the day outside with my animals, the sunshine and a crochet project... I must say it was lovely, relaxing... and just what I needed.

Coffee & Crochet = Happy Girl ;)

One of the many crochet projects I'm workin on... this baby blanket needs to be done by Friday, I started it Sunday night bout 9:30pm.  My hook has been flyin all day.

Beautiful fall day

My Lazy Daisy has the right idea... soakin up the sun

Momma duck brings her 8 ducklings out to the main yard to free range,
I just love watching them

These 2 think my fingers are food, lol

Star out free ranging in main yard...

 Peanut

I put Tulip & Ringo together for a bit just to see if any love was in the air...
there wasnt, lol

Ringo... wishing there was love in the air, lol

Nope the girls just wanted to munch the tasty green grass and leaves...
(I should know this month if Star got bred last month)

So he decided to reach for the leaves instead of worryin about the girls, lol

I put alittle water in that container lid for the baby ducklings...
they played in it all day

 The Silkie Family

Scarlet and her 2 sons... they still follow their momma all around the farm

Took a few pics of momma hen & some of her older chickies...

The kids Cocoa and Boots down in the barnyard...
5 months old now

Tulip & Star loving the extra freedom away from their kids...

Cocoa wanting out to free range with her momma Tulip

Boots wanting out to free ranging with his momma Star

So I gave in and let the kids out to munch with their mommas...
I'm such a sucker

 They so love each other

 Happy Goats :)
