Our Little Farm has grown

My Husband and I just received wonderful news this past Sunday, Our Little Farm grew alittle bigger, we are the owners of the pasture behind us, 5 more acres, we have 7.5 acres now... this makes my heart so happy. Many of you know we've been wanting more land for the animals for the past year or so now. I have talked to God in many prayers and have had faith that if we just waited he would work it out in his time. We signed the paperwork yesterday evening, its really ours now... we have so much work to do, needs new fencing, needs to be cut, I'm gonna see about having a local farm cut it into hay before the horses go over.  I was so excited last night I just had to let the goats go over and munch on some wonderful weeds, they loved it.

Fiona: Bigger Area

Fiona has been here 3 days now and we have been spending lots of time with her... I had her in a little pen until today, I decided to block off one side of the barnyard and let it be her area for a few days, a week or longer before adding her in with Flicka & Clue.  Now she has room to walk, run and play. The chicken, guineas, ducks, farm kitties are keeping her company.  She can hang out by Ringo and Silo's buck pen.  She can also meet Flicka and Clue over the fence.  I've had her out walking the yard today & brushing her.

My daughter and I stayed with her for awhile just to make sure things were gonna go good.

This is where I'll be hanging out later

 She was following me

Have you ever...

This is an older post from 2009 but something reminded me of it today & I had to share again...

Gotten locked in your chicken coop...

That is what happened to me yesterday afternoon, about 15 mins before I needed to leave to go to my Dr. appointment! I was taking down the laundry and thought I'll check for more eggs before I leave, so I went down to the coop, opened the door, forgot to put the latch down (left it pushed up) and as soon as I got inside a freak thing happened... the wind picked up and slammed the door shut and made the latch fall down... all the way down! As soon as I heard that I knew I was in trouble... cause THERE IS NO WAY OUT OF OUR COOP besides the people door, lol. So there I was standing in the coop, door shut and locked, no cell phone, no walkie talkie, nobody to hear me yelling/freaking out... now Brian was in the house in his office working, so I was wondering how long it would take him to realize I was missing and hadnt come to give him a kiss goodbye before leaving for my appointment... Well it took him 1 HOUR AND 15 MINS! lol Thank goodness I didnt have to pee...

See how our door locks... there is NO WAY to get it opened from the inside... trust me I was trying!

Our chickie door... now I did think about this option, for a sec. then laughed to myself cause my big butt would not fit through there... lol

Heres some pics. of the chickies this morning eating breakfast... everyones fine from all the trauma of having a CRAZY LADY yelling and screaming for help in their coop........ lol wish I knew what they where thinking yesterday!

I'm proud to say... I havent got locked in the coop since ;)

Pig in coop... Farm Friend Friday

Well princess of the barnyard decided the other night that she is now sleepin in the coop with the chickens, lol. She squeezed her fat crack in a little chickie door! So the other evening after dinner Brian & I went out & made the chickie door bigger... didnt want to go out there one day & find princess Porkchop stuck! Last night I went in to check on 3 hens that had eggs hatchin & seen that Porkchop had taken over one of the bottom nest boxes..... life is so entertaining livin on a farm, my animals are always makin me smile :)

I do have sad news... I hate this part of farm living. 3 ducklings died Wed. night, 1 was missing & 2 I found dead by the chicken runs. The momma is the one with the nest under our shed & thats where she took her 3 to sleep, so I dont know if it was the storms or something (like a stray cat, been seeing alot lately) attacked em. Very sad.
