Update on Flicka & In the saddle...

 My girl... we're still learning about each other... things are goin good.

I think its funny when she yawns!

Some friends came over on the 20th and walked Flicka around the yard, seeing how she acted and all that good horse stuff.  They like her and said I got myself a real nice mare, I did good.  They even got me up on her for the 1st time... now, now dont get too excited, one of them walked Flicka around while I was up there.  I got another friend coming over this Saturday and her daughter is gonna ride Flicka, I'm excited to see how she does.  I love that I have a few real life horse friends who are willing to help and teach me.. I'm one lucky girl.  I love that I'm meeting new horse friends too! 

Tulip's 2013 Kidding...

 Day 142... starting to lose her plug

Cash 2 18 13 - 3 13 13

~ Its not a happy day here... I'm heartbroken and hate that I have to get on here to share that Cash died early this morning, sometime in the past few hours, when I checked on him around 3ish am he was fine. Theres a lot of what if's I'm beating myself up over right now... When I took him to the vet, the vet checked him good and said the only thing Cash needed was groceries... I should have kept tube feeding him, I should have just kept him in the house with me from the day I took him to the vet, he would drink off momma when he had the chance, drink alittle from the bottle, nibbled on hay, grass, weeds and the grain, was drinkin water and yesterday I saw him poop the lil goat ball poop.... all those were good signs but he still needed more milk. I wish now I could have tube fed him last night instead of letting him drink alitte from the bottle. This is the hardest part of being the caretaker to all my farm animals... my heart is so big, I love them. I know this comes with having farm animals. From now on when Star has triplets I will be taking 1 off to keep as a bottle baby. 

When I think back to last years May 2012 kids, Star had 1 that was really small, June... I think this was goin on with her, I just didnt realize it and she must have been gettin just enough to grow... my friend Rachael bought June (and 2 others), we weaned them at 1 month old, maybe that saved Junes life... I dont know... 

My heart is sad, but it will heal, Cash will always have a place in it. I know I did my best and gave him a good home while he was here. I'm glad I got to enjoy and love on him... I also learned from him.

Nice Evening To Watch The Goats Free Range...

It was a pretty nice evening here so after dinner I decided to sit outside and let the goat girls and kids free range in the main yard.  I decided to tie Tulip and Star to the ropes so I wouldnt have to chase them out of the neighbors yard... as long as they stay in the yard so do all the kids.  Dont worry I did not leave them unsupervised, thats not safe and every so often I would have to go untangle one of their legs. One of these days the plan is to fence off this side of the yard so the goats can munch in it safely and I can sit there and enjoy them, instead of chasing them keeping them in the yard from time to time.  

Why Ooo Why...  does the grass taste better in my neighbors yard??? lol

I took Cash out to hang with the rest of the herd, hes back in t he house with me right now... actually hes asleep on the couch right next to me all wrapped up in a blanket.

I thought Cash was doin better and put him back with the herd, hes not... Hes not gettin enough milk from his momma, his sister and brother drink it all and he gets left out.  So I'm bottle feeding him.

Tulip was bred to Ringo.  They only had 1 date.
