Wishin For Spring...

Heres Porkchop munchin on some carrots and wishin for spring so she can get back to playin outside, I'm sure she misses going out for playtime I know I do!

Update On Ducks... we got our 5 Muscovies locked in one of our chicken coops, I'm sure they are not happy about it but I dont want whatever killed Ducky to get them too. Last night we sat out a live trap (one of our neighbors let us use his). I went out this mornin all was safe, there was nothing in the trap but the door had been triggered. So we will bait it again tonight...

  1. I hope you can catch whatever it was. I'm going to guess a 'coon.

  2. We had ducks a few years ago (I love ducks too!) and one night something got one, but we were out on the truck then. Next night whatever came back and got the rest!! Some said even owls will kill them. Whatever it was climbed the 6' chain link fence with all but one that they left lay there dead. I'd like to get some again but not till I have a safe place, and I don't like them in with my chickens as they muddy the drinking water.

  3. I hope so too Goodwife, my guess is it was our neighbors dogs the run the countryside and I've seen them kill their chickens just for the heck of it.

Sunny, I was thinkin the samething last night about if I lose all my ducks then I will not get anymore til I have a covered pen.

  4. Oh Jennifer, porkchop just keeps getting prettier. I am so sorry about your ducky. We lost one of our muscovies a couple of years ago to a neighbors dog. She acted like it was no big deal--it’s a duck for goodness sakes. We were crushed. I hope you catch the predator tonight!!

  5. Sorry about your duck!!! If you have a trap like mine,I had to put smaller wire on the outside of it. A coon can reach in and steal the bait. Good luck, I hope you catch whatever it is!!

  6. Thanks Verde Farm and Clayton... we caught a stay cat in it last night :/

I dont think thats what attacked our ducks. We are going to set it again tonight... I'm still thinkin it was the dogs.
