Porkchop Out In the Snow...

Heres my lil baby Porkchop out in the snow for the 1st time, she did pretty good. She really didnt like the cold wind that was blowin. But I was takin her out to go potty...

Dont forget about the contest I am havin... Guess Porkchops Weight Better hurry it ends tomorrow night.

"Please take me back inside momma"

* We started havin alittle problem with Porkchop using the potty on the carpet, she has done it 3 times in different areas. It was driving me nuts, I couldnt understand why she would start doing that after all this time of doing so good... guess I shouldnt have bragged on her so much?!?!? Anyways, shes doing great now. We had moved the family room around a day before shes started using the bathroom on the floor so I really think that messed her up, I've read that any kind of change will upset potbelly pigs and I think she was needing a bigger potty box so we got her a long short storage container, the kind you can roll under your bed and it works great. We also made her area even bigger, its a big square now and shes much happier. I was keepin her in her area all the time cause I was scared she would potty on the floor some more, well yesterday I made sure she wet potty in her box then let her out for some playtime in the family room with us watchin her. She did good and was happy to get out to eat carpet fuzz, lol. Then I put her in her potty box every hour to see if she had to go. I do take her outside to potty when the weather permits, yesterday it was rainy here and I didnt take her out, I just didnt want to deal with the mud, so as long as she uses her box we are all good.

** Last night I was holdin her in my lap on the couch watchin tv and had Dylan take a pic of us and I was thinkin before long I wont beable to snuggle with her like that.... sniff sniff, lol These are gonna be my next weeks Shoot Me Pics. on my All Because 2 People Fell In Love blog.

  3. Oh gosh, I know I just asked about the potty thing awile back. Hopefully its under control now. There is something also called "dippity pig syndrome"...It happens also when there surroundings change. It happened to our PB when we made his pen larger. I noticed that he was running or walking and dropping his hind quarters and dragging them behind him...then he would be back up on his feet..then it progressed to a painful sounding squeal..and he had leasions across his back..we couldnt get him to a vet b/c he was so big so we took pics and showed the vet..he thought it was mites..gave us some meds to inject etc. kEEP in mind this all progressed within a day and a half. He still continued to sound as if he was in pain..we almost were gonna put him down..till with the help of google I diagnosed him..this happened last year. Its most commom in pigs under the age of 3 I think it said. And the symptoms dissapear within 72 hours. My husband said I should let ya know after I read your post to him..so google it and you can read in more detail what I'm talkin about...

  5. Jennifer, he is so cute out there. So glad he is doing well now that you made the changes. Interesting about the dipitty pig syndrome. I am going to read up on that myself. I haven’t trimmed my kunes yet--but I know that has to be done soon-for Pansy anyway.

  7. Thanks Verde Farm... (ps Porkchops a girl, lol)

Trisha... I think you need to trim their hooves if they are not on gravel or concrete, I've read that if they get to walk on gravel or concrete it keeps their hooves trimmed. I've never trimmed Porkchops yet, dont know what to do really. But I dont to wait to long and they get to long? They look fine right now.

Ps. No more braggin on Porkchop... she peed on the floor again! Her potty box was full of wet wood shavings, do you all think she would get mad and pee on the floor over a dirty potty box? I changed it... I have to change it every 2 days now.

  8. Porkchop is a cutie! (I think our farm needs a pet pig!) When we adopted Millicent the Weiner-Terrier she had a pee pee problem. (It was probably the reason she was abandoned) but after 2 years of patience, love, and understanding (and lots of paper towels) she has turned out to be a good, housebroken dog. Hang in there! Wishing you a Happy New Year!
