It is a very sad time on Our Little Farm, Bella died in my arms this afternoon. I know I didnt have this lil goat for very long but I've grown to love her over the past few days, she was like a baby to me. I miss her. I dont know why this happen, honestly I think she was born with something wrong & her momma goat just knew. She brought a smile to my face & joy to my heart while I had her. She was just the start for me to The Goat World.
Now I need a friend for
Ellie Mae.
oh, i do hope you find another little one (maybe a few weeks old too) for miss Ellie Mae...
ReplyDeletesorry for the little one...
I am so sorry Jennifer. I was just thinking/worrying about you again tonight. I know how heartbroken you are. I am so glad she got to be with you for a short time. I bet you can find another friend for Ellie Mae.
ReplyDeleteOh no! OH NO! How very sad. I am so so sorry!!
ReplyDeleteLife and death on a farm or ranch. It's a sad part of this life. I was not raised around animals so not used to the death part, these are my pets. I'm so sorry for the losses you've had. My big broody Cochin hen is missing, two other hens went missing about ten days ago. Bet it is a Coopers Hawk so my hens are locked up until we can get a screen roof up. Lost a bunch of eggs after the hen quit sitting, another brood hatched but some died. There are many days I wish i did not have pets, it's been sad lately so I know how you feel. My heart goes out to ya. That was a pretty little goat baby.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you lost your little friend. She was a cutie.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted goats, but I'm not living in the country yet. I want a Jethro and Ellie Mae!
I hope that you are able to find another play mate for Ellie Mae real soon.
June seemed to be hard around your farm. I hope this ends today and doesn't last on. I am so sorry and a little teary eyed for you.
ReplyDeleteMany Mama goats do not produce enough milk. Seperating them from Mama you must become the Mama keeping them close to you feeding them a bottle every two hours at such a young age. The coccidia take over when the are stressing about no Mama and no milk. I suggest you find a goat vet if you are going to continue getting babies. They are very needy at a young age. I rescue kids who have lost their Mama's and for four months I cannot leave them more then two hours. The first several weeks they sleep indoors at night in a kennel. They stay inside with a diaper till at least 4 to 6 weeks then they are moved out with the herd still getting a bottle every two to four hours depending on the goat. You will find the pee just after taking a bottle. . . I am sorry for you loss.
ReplyDeleteThat does happen sometimes~a mom won't take a baby if something is wrong with them or if they get hurt or they know they can't take care of more than one. We've seen all of those scenarios here at Eden Hills.

I'm so sorry, Jen.
