Ellie Mae & her area/pen.

We already had this pen built... Its been home to some roosters, then ducklings, then pot belly pig in the past & now a kid boer, Ellie Mae. We got it all cleaned up & added stuff for her to climb on this mornin. We are gonna make her a better shelter, but her box will due for now. I think shes happy... well until we leave her by herself & she cries for us to come back. I'll get her a friend one of these days.

She likes me & that makes me happy. Shes sweet.

Nice lil home

So cute.

Ooops... goin potty, lol

Come Back Maaaaaaaaaaaaa

ps. If you have goats & feel like sharing any info with me please do, remember I'm new to the goat world. So anything would be helpful. I want to do everything right by her.

  2. Read, read, read. There is a lot to learn about goats and a lot of good books out there. That is a cute pen for here, and she has the chickens close by to maybe help with her loneliness until you can get her a companion. She has beautiful markings.

  3. Goats are very social, they are herd animals. Your little one needs a friend ASAP. They can become depressed without a friend. Good Luck and get yourself a good goat book. I have lots and my two favorites are 'The Goatkeeper's Veterinary Book' by Peter Dunn and 'How to raise Goats'with the FFA stamp by Carol A Amundson. The first can be hard to come by. The second can be found at your local Tractor Supply. I have 10 books on goats and find these two the most helpful. Get her Vaccines right away, make sure you are giving her a bottle till four months old, Give her some 'Jump Start' by Manna Pro. The best advice is to get her to a Vet right away and let him check her Coccidia level. Being alone and stressing can cause it to rise and it will kill her. He will give you some medication to treat this to keep it from taking over and he will give the vaccines. Trust me, being that she is so young you won't regret doing this. Again, Good Luck! I also give my bottle raised kids liquid vitamin drops for children in the bottle. I dropper a day in a bottle. She can drink whole cows milk, you can use a baby bottle unless she has already been taught to take another type of nipple.
