My New Doeling Itty Bitty Is Home...

I bought and brought my new doeling home yesterday and a bonus was I got to finally meet my fb Julie... we've been friends for about a year now on fb and love talkin goat... shes so sweet in computer world and real life, she lives about 2 hours from me.  So I see a few visits with each other a few times a year hopefully.  Check out here webpage Russell's Ridge Nubians.  Julies goats are registered Nubians and I'm so excited to have added Itty Bitty to my herd, she comes from excellent blood and milking lines. Heres some pics from my visit at Russell's Ridge Nubian Farms and bringing Itty Bitty home...

I really like her... shes a very friendly, sweet doeling

I have spend sooo much time with these kids since they were born last weekend, I just love em. So much as went on in the past week I dont know if I shared with yall that my neighbor has given me Peanut. I'm leaving him with his herd right now so he can play & learn with his brother & cousins. Hes doin so great, he drinks off both momma does. He knows my voice & comes to me when I go over to visit, he loves to snuggle.

More Nubian Baby Goats...

The neighbors other doe went into labor & popped 2 sweet lil kids out in less than 2 hours Sunday evening... she was fast... she had a doeling & buckling. Ooo my goodness I'm so inlove with the lil doeling she is BEAUTIFUL. The buckling is cute too but I just love the lil doeling. Momma is doin great with them...

Reminds me of my Ringo

Look at that sweet face
the neighbor is gonna keep her

I just love her cute spots

I'm in baby goat heaven when I go to the neighbors barn, I love it! I love to snuggle with them, they are too sweet. I really do have the best neighbor, I love that he has his lil goat herd & I'm seeing & learning all this first hand, its really cool. I'll be a pro when my girls have their babies in May, lol. I think I've been spendin more time in my neighbors goat barn than mine but who can resist all these sweet babies... not me!

Tulip, Star & Ringo...

I had Ringo out yesterday burnin up some of his baby goat energy, then I decided since it was a nice sunny day I'd let Tulip & Star out & walk em over to the neighbors pasture...

They have to stop & nibble every where

Then Tulip saw Ringo & went after him... run Ringo run!

Ringo keep watch for the big mean goat girls, lol
One day they might love him ;)

Tulip with a mouthful of grass, lol

Star munching

They have to stop for a bite of honeysuckle vines... their favorite.

Ringo is still keepin his distance, lol. Smart boy...

Hes so pretty :)

Update on my new goats...

Tomorrow night will make a week since we brought Tulip, Star & kids here... I really think they like it their new home. They get along pretty good with everyone, they are gettin more use to Annabel & Ellie Mae (Tulip & Star like to chase & bump them). They are scared of Porkchop still, they run from her, lol. I havent got to start milkin yet, Brian has to build me a milkin stand. I'm also tryin to sell the 2 kids... it makes me alittle sad because they are so cute & they are startin to get use to me, I get to pet them here & there. But I know I can breed next year & have more babies... & I'm sure I'll keep one or two. I'm also sellin some of my hens, mostly bantam, extra roosters & all 7 ducks from the may hatch. I'm tryin to make the money back from buyin the goats, that was the deal I made with Brian :)

Happy Barnyard

Horns

The horns on a boer goat act as a "cooling mechanism" that connect to the sinus cavities at the head. The vascularity of the horn contributes to the regulation of body temperature in boer goats. The circulation of blood to the horn influence the temperature of the brain. Horns are mostly used to scratch with and are not used aggressively. Goats do use them to spar with each other during play fights but this does not lead to any injury. The goats horns are not used against people. (Found this and other info. in Wikipedia)
