Got my bator fixed so ya know I had to test it out...
I put only 4 eggs from my barnyard flock in it on Sept. 25 (3 made it to lockdown). The first two hatched Saturday (10-16-10) and the 3rd one on Sunday (10-17-10).

Chickens... Coming and Going.

Lets see... alots been going on here at Our Little Farm. I've traded, sold, hatched, processed chickens all in one week. First I traded some chickens with Susie. Then sold 2 rooster and 7 hens to an older couple that stopped in (and they bought 2 dozen eggs). Then I hatched out 3 chicks over the weekend, blog coming soon. Finally we process our extra rooster on Saturday too... ended up with 10 in freezer camp. I weighed them after I cleaned em... 3-4lbs., 3-3 lbs., 3-2 lbs., 3-2.5 lbs. and 1-2 lb. (I'm keeping one "Big Red" and then we are letting the other 3 grow and plump up)
***Warning... Pics. of processing Roosters Below.***

Katiegirl...
I admire you for being able to process your chickens/turkeys. Maybe one day I'll be able to. Right now I'm just the helper and the chicken cleaner/cooker :)

Heres our chicken count for now...
10 Roosters (7 keepin, 3 going) , 34 Hens (26 are layers, 8 are pullets) and 9 Chicks = 53

Goodbye Girls...

My friend Susie came down for a visit/chicken trade with her 4 kids this week (her husband had to work). Susie bought 5 chicks from me in April well it just so happened that all 5 are roosters!!! Cant have that so I made a deal with her, I'd trade her 4 hens for 4 roosters (we are going to process them this Saturday). She even went home with 2 cute young bantams (from Chipmunks hatch). Her kids had so much fun checking out our little farm, it was so cute watching them run all around! I cant wait for them to come back down and hang out longer :)

Her 6 chickens...
