Got my bator fixed so ya know I had to test it out...
I put only 4 eggs from my barnyard flock in it on Sept. 25 (3 made it to lockdown). The first two hatched Saturday (10-16-10) and the 3rd one on Sunday (10-17-10).
Awww, such sweet baby sickens! ;) I'm getting a half dozen pullet chicks this spring......The Paintiff says no to a rooster. Having a rooster and letting my hens set is how I wound up with 40 chickens, which for us was way too many! ;)
LOL Trish... I would love to have some silky eggs. I was just thinkin about that the other day and was gonna email you about it. How bout this spring... now I am puttin 12 more eggs in my bator tomorrow then I can not hatch out anymore this winter, lol.
Hi Jen, just got done reading several of your last posts. Your chickens seem very calm and docile. I can tell you spend alot ot time with them.
We used to incubate some eggs but now let the banty hens do it. Sometimes I wish we still had our bator. But then, sometimes I wish we still had our own bees, milk goats, and squeely pigs! I enjoy reading about all you others that still do all of this!
Thank You Sunny... I really do spend alot of time out with my chickens, theres actually a joke here that if you cant find Momma go look down at the coops, lol. I've talked with my husband about trying to have our own bees and I'm still working on him about some milking goats and then theres the thing about a cute squeely pig, well ya never know I might just be getting one of them soon too ;)
How amazing! We raise chickens, and I am always awed by the process of how simply their life begins, and the beauty of it all. I could watch chicken t.v. forever. :) Thank you for sharing!
