Nutmeg...

Is In Broody Jail And She Is Not Happy. She went broody earlier this week, shes only 6 months old, shes a mixed BO/RIR I hatched out in March. I have had almost every one of my hens go broody this year! I've decided to NOT give her any eggs and try to break her out of her broodiness. I've read to keep her in a cage for a couple of days so the air can cool her down?

* I went and checked on her already this morning... shes doing fine in jail, lol

  1. LOL, I've never tried to stop mine from being broody. I'm interested to see if this works. We sold all our chickens in June, but are thinking we may have to get 6 or so. I miss having the eggs!

  3. Yup, read caging like that works. Last summer I sat one broody hen in a pan of cool water then locked her out of coop for two days. That worked too.
Enjoy pics of your chickens and duckies(?)
    LOL

  5. Thanks Verde Farm... I'm so glad I finally tried it and it worked, now I'll know what to do come spring when they all go broody again, lol. I'd love to let them all hatch chickies whenever they want to but cant, if I had a bigger yard I would :)
