Ducks & new duck pool pond

Went into town today & seen that they have the blue kiddie pools out so I got a new bigger for ducks to play in this year...

Hummm... They're not shy, lol

Heres the old duck pool pond. Honey put a drain in it for me... it got broke over winter so he has to re-caulk it. I love that I dont have to pail out water, just turn the drain thing & the water flows out. Now I do have to pick out the gunk (feathers & stuff) from the drain as the water is goin out... Ducks are so messy! But so much fun to have around.

This is where the duck pool pond sits when in use

Just turn that thing & the water flows out

The new bigger duck pool pond. I couldnt wait for honey to put a drain in it, had to fill it up as soon as I got back home... he'll put a drain in it this summer.

They just stopped by for a nice cool drink

I just love when the sky looks like this. The clouds are so pretty

We have 4 kittens... (& Farm Friend Friday)

We knew it was gonna go in labor soon... I noticed Monday night shes was actin alittle different, lookin around our room checkin out different spots. Then last night we noticed she was leakin down there, so we got everything ready for her to have the kittens in the laundry room, this was somewhere around 9:00-9:30pm. Piper did great, I think she had a really easy labor. Kaylin sat up with me for a bit, she got to see the 1st 2 kittens be born. She thought it was soooo neat, which it is. I got to see my 1st kittens being born around her age too. So glad she was home to witness/experience this. Dylan was already asleep, Blake, Cody & Brian really didnt care. But Kaylin & I on the other hand was all up in it... with our cameras, lol Kay finally went to bed somewhere around 12:00-12:30, I stayed up til 2:30 to make sure all went well.

...WARNING...

If ya dont wanna see kittens being born dont look below, lol

Piper & Kittens are doing great, shes a good momma :)

2nd Duck Egg...

I found another duck egg...

Soooo I'm gonna do a test on my 1st duck egg I got yesteday. I'm puttin it under one of my broody bantam hens... I know, I know it might not even be fertile but I'm still gonna give it a try. I'm hard headed, very stubborn and I like to do things my way and I hate when people think I'm wrong when I know I'm right. I look thinks up and study them before I speak about them, I do my homework... So I really do believe these are duck eggs. They should get bigger & whitish as my duck hens lay more eggs. This is their 1st year layin & their 1st eggs.

LinkUnder broody bantam
Now we wait 35ish long days...

2nd egg could be Lou Lou's?

Found this coffee colored smooth, waxy egg in the same nest box as the 1st one.

Decided to open the 2nd one, gonna make cookies with it

It was alot harder to open than a chicken egg & harder to tear apart after I cracked it.

The yolk is bigger than my chicken yolks

Hummm... maybe I'll get another one tomorrow :)

1st Duck Egg...

...Happy Sunday...

I went out to collect eggs & noticed a different lookin egg. As soon as I saw it I thought duck egg? I wasnt exactly forsure since I've never seen a duck egg in person. So I posted a pic. on BYC (BackYardChickens) & and the wonderful people that posted to my thread all agreed... ITS A DUCK EGG!!! I'm so excited, I've been waitin forever & sayin everyday the past few weeks... "they'll be layin soon." I'm pretty sure this egg is from Scarlett my black/white muscovy.

"Scarlett"

Update On my March chickies...
