42 barnyard eggs went in the bator... 38 chicks hatched. Delawares, Salmon Favorelles, Silver Polish, Buff Orpingtons, Road Island Reds, Easter Eggers, Silkies assorted bantams & alot more that I cant remember... last year I had hatched out eggs from 2 friends barnyard chickens, I got lots of hens from those hatches. None of my chicks are pure... & if they are it would really surprise me cause all my chickens run together... I've got about 39 hens, I think 8 roosters (need to sell acouple more), then the 5 young birds from last months hatch (think theres 3 girls & 2 boys in that batch) & now these chickies...
In these pics. only 33 had hatched, I've added a few more to the brooder since then & 2 chicks are still dryin in the bator...

i remember as a kid, holding the baby chicks at the zoo was one of my favorite things! congrats on all those sweet babies! did you ever see the i love lucy episode when they got all those baby chicks? ha!

ReplyDeleteI have a four yr. old grandson that adores little chicks and their mommas. He gathers eggs and hugs the chickens.
ReplyDeleteOh..i love them all!! My birds always hatch out the chipmunk looking peeps. They are my favorites. We usually let a couple hens go broody and hatch out some new babies every spring. They are just so sweet!!

ReplyDeleteawwww...they are SO precious! makes me want to run out to the farm store and get some. we actually need to do that again. my brood is down to just 3 now and they're kind of old.

Awww! Do any of them have poofs of down on the sides of their faces? If so they are part Favorelle. Did Afrane Jane ever start laying?
