Flicka at her new temporary home...

Wanted to share I decided a few days ago to take a friend up on her offer to have Flicka come stay on farm for a few weeks/month so she and her daughter can work with me & Flicka. They are gonna help me learn about horses. Rachel & her husband came over last night, loaded Flicka up and took her to their farm, shes about 30ish minutes from my house.  I really missed her greeting me from the barnyard this morning. I went over to spend time with her today and visit with Rachel. We had a great day... I brushed Flicka  while Rachel braided her tail then she munching the weeds for a bit. We walked her 1 1/2 miles from one barn area to another, thats right behind Rachels house.  Flicka will be spending time, living with 2 of Rachels other horses... they did great today meeting/greeting each other. As soon as they get their round pen up we will be working... and riding on their land.  I'm really excited.  I cant wait! I really wish I was Rachels neighbor so I could go to her house everyday and see my Flicka.

Time to round the roosters up...

All of us chicken farmers know when ya hatch chicks out your gonna end up with a FEW extra roosters, lol. I've been wanting to round up my extra roosters for a few months now and this past weekend was the perfect time for some rooster hunting ;)

I caught these 5 roosters in the morning before anyone got here...
pretty dang good.

After family and friends started showing up I got the great idea of having all their kids catch extra roosters for me and so...... Let The Rooster Catching Begin!

Us adults had a great time watching these kids try to catch this one tiny rooster, lol

This lil country girl caught that rooster
"Girl Power"

Then we had some "Boy Power"...
these two boys ended up catching the other 3 roosters for me

 They were pretty stinkin proud!

By the end of they day "we" caught 9 extra roosters...
They will be goin to freezer camp within the next few weeks.

Later that evening this young farmer helped me put all 9 roosters in a extra pen for safe keeping where they will live til its time to go to freezer camp.

*** I have 2 head roosters & 20/21 hens.  They are all so happy that the extra 9 roosters are out of the barnyard.  Yesterday I collected 14 chicken eggs & 2 duck eggs.

I bought and brought my new doeling home yesterday and a bonus was I got to finally meet my fb Julie... we've been friends for about a year now on fb and love talkin goat... shes so sweet in computer world and real life, she lives about 2 hours from me.  So I see a few visits with each other a few times a year hopefully.  Check out here webpage Russell's Ridge Nubians.  Julies goats are registered Nubians and I'm so excited to have added Itty Bitty to my herd, she comes from excellent blood and milking lines. Flicka & The Stinky Boys...

The naked earth is warm with Spring,
And with green grass and bursting trees
Leans to the sun's kiss glorying,
And quivers in the sunny breeze.

~ Thought I'd give an update on how Miss. Flicka is doin on my lil farm... as you can see from the pictures shes doin great, we are bonding more & more everyday and I love it!  I'm so glad I never sold her when I would have my freak out days thinkin I couldnt do this.  I can do this, plus I have so much support from family/friends.  Flicka is not eating from my neighbors pasture anymore... shes in my barnyard and I've had to do some rearranging with goats, right now my bucks Ringo and Peanut are down in the barnyard with Flicka... they all get along just fine.  Flicka spends her days munching on hay, drinkin fresh water, walkin the barnyard finding new grass to nibble on, running/playin from one side of the barnyard to the other, flirting with the neighbors donkey over the fence and pooping A LOT!  Most days I bring her out of the barnyard and into the main yard,  tie her on the barnyard gate so I can love on her by brushing her, then I walk her around the yard to munch on grass, I started workin on walkin her around the yard with me leading and being the boss mare... cant just let her walk and munch all the time.  I got on her yesterday evening without a bridle, bit, saddle and all that good stuff to see if I could ( I dont have all that good stuff yet, workin on it)... she did fine, I was only on her about 5 minutes, I'll feel better with a bit in her mouth. Shes a sweet girl and I cant wait to see how our relationship is in a few more months (I've only had her since December 2012).

... ENJOY...

*** I can not keep up... Lets see Stars kids are alittle over 6 weeks old.  Tulips Quads will be 2 weeks old tomorrow... all kids are doin great, I love watching them zoom zoom around the yard, they are all so sweet & friendly.  Spirit does better and better every single day and that makes my heart happy... hes been spending his days out in the pen with his goat family, I milk Star every morning to feed Spirit his bottles, I bring him in the house at night, only because I dont want him to stumble his was out of the goat house and into the pen then not be able to get himself back in where its nice and warm... he gets excited around his sisters & brother.. jumps and tries to play.  I'll update more when I can... Life Is Good.  Busy BUT Good!
