I think I can...

Keep all 4 of my goats... Been doin some thinkin & if we have the room, which I'm pretty sure we do then my sweet Annabel & Ellie Mae are stayin here on Our Little Farm. As I was walkin Tulip & Star over to the neighbors pasture acouple days ago I got to lookin around our yard & thought out loud (cause I like to talk to myself, Oooo & I like to talk to my animals, I know Tulip & Star was listenin to me, lol)... "IF" I could talk my honey into fencing this whole side of the yard off it would be plenty of room for all the goats & they would have plenty of grass to eat...

*Also I know my nice neighbors will keep lettin me bring the girls over to eat if I need to... & hes got more land down the road that he needs cleared next spring/summer so I told him he could borrow Annabel & Ellie Mae for the job.

P.S. We got the goat barn built... stay tuned post coming this week.

Sometimes the grass really is greener on the other side...

My nice neighbors let me walk Tulip & Star over to their pasture to help their cow eat all this nice pretty grass. Yesterday was their 1st day over there, I walked em over around 1:00 & walked em back home around 4:30... today I walked em over around 10:00 & I'll bring em back home around the same time as yesterday, guess this will be our lil schedule.

I think its very nice of my neighbors to share their pasture... the girls & I really do appreciate it. I could just keep em down in the barnyard & feed em hay, but my neighbor says why when they have all this grass to eat, lol. Guess all that grass is helpin milk production... they gave me 2 quarts this mornin. Usually they give me 1.5 quarts, so go ahead & eat up girls ;)

Hummm... wonder what the cow thinks of Tulip & Star?

Heres some lil updates on whats goin on here lately... we are buildin a goat house (addin it on to the chicken shack), I've been collectin 15-16 eggs a day. Princess Porchop is doin great, shes still the boss of the barnyard. Annabel & Elli Mae are doin just fine too, they are lil sweeties... I've been doin some thinkin lately & I may have to find these two a new home, makes me alittle sad but I have someone nice in mind who I know would give em a good home & I would still see em almost every day. The reason I've been thinkin about all this is because I know I cant have alot of goats here & I really really want to keep dairy goats... Annabel & Ellie Mae are not dairy goats, I wish they were since they are my 1st goats... I've got some thinkin to do & stuff to straighten out... keep ya posted.

PS... The Goodwife & her family came over to visit last Sunday, she got to see the girls & she trimmed their hooves for me.

My Milkin Stand...

My wonderful handyman husband built a milkin stand for me on Tuesday & I'm so thankful to finally have it, makes milkin time go so much easier.

He took part of our back porch down, recycled & turned it into a milk stand. Jake (our nephew) takin it all in, he had to show his mom the goat stand when she came to pick him & his sisters up, lol

He still had to add the rest of the head thing & feedin tray but for now it gets the job done...

See... So Much Easier! Thanks Honey.

* As of 9/10 we've gotten alittle over 2 gallons of milk, I think thats pretty cool. Goats milk is the only milk I've been drinkin since Sunday mornin, I love it. I made my 1st goat cheese this week, need to make some more was gonna do that today but didnt get around to it, might make some tomorrow.

My Adventures In Goat Milkin...

Update on the 2 Kinder kids: I sold em yesterday mornin to a very nice, sweet family who lives in the same area. I thought I'd be really sad but actually I'm not & I know why... because I know they went to a good, loving home, I'm so thankful for that. So Thank You Vincent Family for makin it easy on me to sell the kids. Tulip & Star did really good when we took the kids away, that makes me happy too.

Tulip was alittle rowdy but over time I'm sure we'll do just fine.

Star was pretty calm about the whole milkin thing

I am gonna come up with a better system for milkin the girls... in the next few weeks we are gonna build a goat house & a milkin stand. Then things will go alot smoother. Right now I just have to do what I gotta do to milk em. Thank goodness I had 2 lil helper yesterday.

I just drank my 1st cup of Kinder goats milk... not bad. I could tell a slight difference from the skim, 1%, lowfat or fat free cows milk we buy from the store. Gettin ready to go out & milk again.

Update on my new goats...

Tomorrow night will make a week since we brought Tulip, Star & kids here... I really think they like it their new home. They get along pretty good with everyone, they are gettin more use to Annabel & Ellie Mae (Tulip & Star like to chase & bump them). They are scared of Porkchop still, they run from her, lol. I havent got to start milkin yet, Brian has to build me a milkin stand. I'm also tryin to sell the 2 kids... it makes me alittle sad because they are so cute & they are startin to get use to me, I get to pet them here & there. But I know I can breed next year & have more babies... & I'm sure I'll keep one or two. I'm also sellin some of my hens, mostly bantam, extra roosters & all 7 ducks from the may hatch. I'm tryin to make the money back from buyin the goats, that was the deal I made with Brian :)

Blog friends meet & do some goat business...

Look who I got to finally meet in person... my blog friend The Goodwife over at Thickin' and Thinnin' I do believe some of yall read her blog too & if you do read it then you know everything thats gone on this past year & thats shes taken a break from blog world... sure do miss readin her blogs, they always made me smile. I think shes a very cool person. I dont remember how I found her blog or when but as soon as I started following her I knew I was gonna like her. We became really good blog buddies over the past year or so, we would even email each other. Then I was so happy to learn she was moving to my state then more excited to learn she was only gonna be about 45 mins. away... we both knew living so close to each other we were gonna have to meet face to face, so we got too yesterday evening. Long story short she had emailed me earlier this week to see if I knew anyone to buy her Kinder Dairy Milkin goats (4... 2 mommas & 2 kids) & if ya keep up with my blog then ya know I've been wantin some milkin goats, so I talked it over with the honey. Well we got everything worked out & road to her house & picked em up.

Showing me how to milk Tulip... I did it with her help on my 2nd try. I was surprised how easy it was. Now I gotta do it on my own. Then I'll be makin all kinds of goat milk goodies.

We had about a 45 minute drive home... 4 humans & 4 goats in a mini van, lets just say its a ride we wont forget, lol

Here they are 1st night at their new home... and the cool thing is The Goodwife & her family can come visit them & us whenever they want :)
