Changes with My Little Goat Herd

My little goat herd changed again last Sunday (10-26-14)... long story short I sold Tulip & Star back to my friend Sarah over at Life At Goodwife Farm, visit her blog I know she will sharing the news soon. Tulip and Star have been with me about 3 years, I have learned so much from having them start my herd... my Cocoa & Chloe are Tulips daughters, they are my main girls now.  Cocoa was born May 2012 and Chloe Dec. 2013. I still have my two Nubian bucks Ringo & Silo.  The day Tulip and Star left they both were in heat they went on a date with Silo, hopefully they are bred and will be due to kid around March 2014... I will be getting two doelings from them. I plan on breeding Cocoa to Silo the next time I catch her in heat.

Working Cattle

Sunday was such a beautiful day to ride... we helped a bunch of friends work cattle. We brought them in and sorted the calves from the herd. Then we had to bring in a few more cows from another pasture. I've went and mostly hung back and watched, trying to learn what to do, now I just tell them to tell me what to do.  Sunday was my second time helping and I think Clue & I did really good... I Love It!

Flicka, Clue and Fiona

After supper & barnyard chores we thought it would be nice to catch "The Girls" and just hang out with them in the main yard.  When they first saw us coming with the lead ropes they kinda thought about taking off but didnt... But I know they were thinking... " Oooo crap we're gonna have to chase cows again", lol (we helped work cattle last Sunday). Before putting them back in the barnyard we brushed them and I picked their hooves. This will teach them that not every time we come with the lead rope we're gonna ride or they have to work

Fiona: Bath and Loading/Unloading

Fiona learned a lot yesterday and so did I... she got her first bath, seen her mom (Pretty, Pretty Princess), met another Filly, took them for a walk, she learned how to load herself and unload. She also got dewormed and I will be starting her on alittle grain.  Gonna work on backing her up from the ground.
