Bred or Not Bred...

That is the question... I'm trying to pay close attention to the girls to see if they are goin in and out of heat.  If Cocoa settled after her and Silo's last date I will know her when shes due.  Now if my little Chloe is bred I have know idea by which buck or when she will be due... in the next few months.  If she is bred is was by pure accident, I didnt want to bred her this young, she will be one at the end of December... "The Stinky Boys" broke out too many times for me to keep up this year.  We have redone their pen and the girls arent even able to get anywhere near them.

Brave Rooster

It was cute to watch this rooster walk up to Fiona food bowl and start eating grain with her... pretty brave, actually Fiona is pretty sweet and shares her grain with a few of the hens, roosters and guineas. 

This picture is great... check out the pullets in the background, lol. They know they're messing out on some yummy stuff

Evening Chores

The winter weather wasnt so awful today... 

Actually it was kinda nice this evening while I was goin about my barnyard chores.

 When your chickens free range ya never know where you'll find eggs sometimes.  This hen has been laying eggs in the unused feeder for atleast 5 days now, lol.  I will start checking this spot daily.

Winter Hay

 I bought 95 more bales yesterday... that makes a total of 298 bales since I started buying hay for the winter months. I believe I'm goin into winter with about 350 bales of hay for the horses & goats. I'm sure I'll be buying & putting round bales out too. Some of the load fell off in that yard, I'm so glad it didnt fall off as we were goin down the road.  

My New Little Barn

Brian and I went about 2 weeks ago and looked at some wooden buildings. We picked one out that I liked , its 12x20 and has lofts at both ends. I made my first payment on it and will be making the monthly payments. It got delivered a few days ago... I'm so happy to have a nice place to store hay, feed, tack and a nice dry place to milk my goats in. Later this month we will be picking up the last of my hay 80-100 bales to go in here.  I have plans... I would love for us to build stalls on one side one day.

Changes with My Little Goat Herd

My little goat herd changed again last Sunday (10-26-14)... long story short I sold Tulip & Star back to my friend Sarah over at Life At Goodwife Farm, visit her blog I know she will sharing the news soon. Tulip and Star have been with me about 3 years, I have learned so much from having them start my herd... my Cocoa & Chloe are Tulips daughters, they are my main girls now.  Cocoa was born May 2012 and Chloe Dec. 2013. I still have my two Nubian bucks Ringo & Silo.  The day Tulip and Star left they both were in heat they went on a date with Silo, hopefully they are bred and will be due to kid around March 2014... I will be getting two doelings from them. I plan on breeding Cocoa to Silo the next time I catch her in heat.
